Data Engineer – Climate Risk & Geospatial Intelligence

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering team developing Location Risk Intelligence – a global SaaS platform empowering insurers, banks, corporates, and real estate investors to assess and act on location-specific climate risks.

You will be responsible for creating, enhancing, and analyzing massive asset-level datasets, leveraging GenAI, geospatial data, and advanced data engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research and analyze global asset-level datasets using public, purchasable, or GenAI-driven sources.
• Improve and optimize name-matching algorithms for company, building, and POI datasets.
• Enhance, clean, and prepare large geospatial and exposure datasets for real-world applications.
• Support ad-hoc data processing tasks for client deliverables and content marketing.
• Collaborate with Product and Modeling teams to ensure high-quality data output.
• Document methodologies, technical pipelines, models, and software code.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Prior work in GIS engineering or climate risk analysis.
• Strong skills in large datasets, asset-level exposure data, and name matching algorithms.
• Proficiency in programming languages: Python, SQL, R, or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with data tools: Databricks, Apache Spark.
• Nice to have: Experience with geospatial stacks: PostGIS, QGIS, ArcGIS.
• Creative problem-solver with a passion for sustainability and climate impact.
