Job Description

The Senior Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Practitioner at Forum for Sustainability through Life Cycle Innovation e.V. will manage LCA projects to evaluate and optimize environmental impacts of products. Candidates should have 7-10 years of experience in LCA, project management, and regulatory processes. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills and familiarity with LCA standards and ESG reporting. This position is fully remote, but applicants must reside in the US.

BASIC FUNCTION

Senior level practitioner position supporting sustainability innovation and transparency of environmental impacts primarily through development and application of life cycle assessments (LCA). Manage and execute projects that allow understanding, evaluation, and optimization of environmental impacts for a variety of products and product systems. Connect the regulatory landscape with data structure needs and business processes via systems thinking for credible, robust reporting.

Build documents, such as ISO compliant LCA reports, product level declarations, and regulatory reports for third-party approval to credibly communicate environmental impacts.

EXPECTATIONS
• Extensive experience in project management and execution of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) projects in support of product level disclosures, comparative assertions, metrics and reporting, Design for Sustainability and R&D activities.
• Desire and qualifications to build out and own regulatory project processes, tools and work quality across team as needed.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skillset enabling education and knowledge transfer to various stakeholders.
• Ability to manage complex projects and interact with leadership level positions.
• Deep understanding of LCA related standards (ISO 14040, 14044, 14025, 14067, 21930) and familiarity with ESG space and reporting frameworks such as CDP, and GRI, as well as regional regulations such as CSRD, EU Taxonomy, SB 261 and 253.
• Ability to track and translate regulations into specific project tasks.
• Comfortable with scoping projects and designing customized solutions for clients, especially as it relates to sustainability regulatory needs.
• Comfortable working with clients from various sectors and industries.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to the Director – Life Cycle Assessment Services.

Organization Relationships:
Frequent contact with the complete True North team of sustainability professionals.

External Business Relationships:
Client sustainability staff and other functional roles inclusive of manufacturing operations, product and process development teams, leadership, and others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• 7-10 years of work experience related to LCA, carbon accounting and ESG.
• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering, engineering technology or environmental science program; or bachelor’s degree in a related field with successful completion of the EIT exam or a PE license.
• Highly organized in data management and use of MS office applications.
• Experienced within cross-functional project teams in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with risk assessments and supporting tools and frameworks.

PREFERRED
• Experience in a product design/manufacturing engineering role.
• Master’s degree in technical or business functions.

Note: Compensation for this position is based on Wisconsin market rates, reflecting our organization’s location. While we welcome applicants from anywhere, salary offers will be aligned with this market standard.
