Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Construction Manager for Sustainable Infrastructure in St. Louis, MO. About the position
The Senior Construction Manager for Sustainable Infrastructure at Johnson Controls is responsible for overseeing construction management of projects focused on lighting, water fixtures, and mechanical/electrical retrofits. This role involves ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of customers while maintaining safety and compliance with regulations. The manager will work closely with subcontractors and local contracting communities to foster relationships and ensure project success.
Responsibilities
• Manage construction of assigned projects with a focus on lighting, water fixture, and mechanical/electrical retrofits.

• Determine resource levels to meet schedule milestones and monitor workforce levels for compliance with the construction plan.
,
• Control change/scope creep by documenting scope changes and obtaining necessary approvals for change orders.
,
• Implement site safety and security procedures and contribute to the development of the safety program.
,
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and subcontractors.
,
• Ensure high customer satisfaction and accurate project completion within budget and scope.
,
• Maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow for assigned projects.
,
• Perform cost estimating, project scheduling, and construction management for assigned projects.
,
• Oversee project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes, and construction techniques.
,
• Review design scope for constructability and submit recommendations for changes.
,
• Monitor productivity and costs, recommending changes to mitigate problems and maintain effectiveness.
,
• Communicate project status to customers and team members, attending job progress meetings as required.
,
• Ensure subcontractors understand project expectations and oversee site safety and security.
,
• Assist in evaluating contractual scope and perform associated cost estimates and prepare proposals as directed.
,
• Coordinate customer training requirements and assist in project development as needed.
,
• Develop and adhere to a Project Execution Plan for each assigned project.
,
• Provide leadership and establish customer touch points throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Project/Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
,
• Minimum 6 years of Project Management experience in the construction industry.
,
• Broad knowledge of commercial contractual terms and conditions and financial/accounting for construction.
,
• Experience working in multi-discipline projects as a prime contractor.
,
• Demonstrated success in budget development, maintenance, and revenue forecasting.
,
• High level project management process competencies.
,
• Ability to manage conceptual design and work with engineering teams to complete designs on time and on budget.
,
• Strong proficiency in MS Office, Nitro, Visio, MS Project, Procore, and basic internet applications.
,
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence change.
Nice-to-haves
• BAS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering.
,
• Construction Management experience on energy retrofit projects.
,
• PMP, LEED certification, or PEng designation.
,
• Experience managing multiple diverse projects ranging from $1M to $20M.
,
• Experience building schedules with knowledge of creating WBS.
,
• Experience in estimation.
