About the position

The Senior Compost Operations & Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in the maintenance and reliability of one of the largest compost facilities in the United States. This position involves leading a team of maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing the operation and maintenance of composting facilities and equipment. The technician will work independently while providing guidance and training to other employees, contributing to the Agency's commitment to environmental sustainability and effective water resource management.

Responsibilities
• Lead and participate in the work of crews engaged in the operation and maintenance of composting facilities and equipment.

• Oversee regulatory compliance and perform maintenance planning.
,
• Provide work guidance and direction to unit/crew members, including scheduling and monitoring work for completeness and accuracy.
,
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation and work records, including maintenance records and work order tracking.
,
• Enforce adherence to safety procedures and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
,
• Monitor and manage the operation of composting processes, including temperature and feed rates of compost piles.
,
• Lead preventive, predictive, corrective, and improvement maintenance programs.
,
• Order required parts, materials, and supplies for maintenance activities.

Requirements
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
,
• At least three years of progressively responsible experience in journey-level operations or maintenance at a composting facility or with construction-related tools and equipment.
,
• A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program.
,
• Weigh Master Certificate required within six months of appointment.
,
• Level 1 Certification in vibration analysis, lube oil, and ultrasonic required within 18 months of appointment.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in a public agency is preferred.

• Level 2 Certification in vibration analysis, lube oil, and ultrasonic is highly desired.

• Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) Certification is highly desired.
