Role Overview:
We are seeking a visionary Senior Business Development Manager to lead our solar energy expansion across India. This role demands a strategic thinker with deep industry networks, capable of driving large-scale project acquisition, forging high-value partnerships, and building the foundation for long-term growth in the renewable energy sector. You will act as a key driver of revenue, partnerships, and strategic positioning in the Indian market.
Key Responsibilities:
• Market Strategy & Expansion:
• Define and execute regional go-to-market strategies for rooftop, C&I, and utility-scale solar projects
• Identify high-growth markets and segments across India and build entry strategies
• Strategic Partnerships & Alliances:
• Establish B2B partnerships with real estate developers, industrial clients, EPCs, and government agencies
• Liaise with DISCOMs, SECI, MNRE, and state nodal agencies to identify incentive-driven opportunities
• Project Origination & Commercial Negotiation:
• Lead origination of mid to large-scale solar projects under CAPEX, RESCO, or hybrid models
• Negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs), lease contracts, and vendor terms with a focus on profitability
• Leadership & Collaboration:
• Collaborate with the technical, finance, and execution teams to structure bankable proposals
• Represent the company at renewable energy events, investment forums, and policy roundtables
• Revenue & Pipeline Management:
• Own the business development funnel and deliver against quarterly revenue and margin targets
• Track key metrics and prepare detailed business intelligence and reporting dashboards
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy, or Business; MBA preferred
• 6–10 years of experience in business development or strategic sales, preferably in the solar or clean energy sector
• Proven track record of closing large-scale deals (5MW+ or ₹5Cr+ contract value)
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, solar financing models, and technical feasibility assessment
• Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred Attributes:
• Relationships with C&I clients, developers, and/or government energy departments
• Familiarity with policy instruments like ALMM, net metering, and green open access
• Strong financial acumen for evaluating IRR, payback, and ROI models
