Senior Business Analyst – Energy Systems & Control Room

We’re on the hunt for a Senior Business Analyst who lives and breathes control room environments, SCADA systems, PI Historian data and the evolving dynamics of Energy Management Systems (EMS).

THE ROLE:

Reporting to a high-performing leadership team within a nationally respected regulator, you’ll lead analytical and systems-focused initiatives that enhance how control room and EMS platforms interface with regulatory frameworks, technical compliance, and the ever-expanding influence of renewables.

You’ll work across:
• Real-time SCADA platforms and PI Historian systems, extracting and interpreting complex telemetry data to drive actionable insights.
• Control room system operations and EMS technologies, evaluating their interaction with market dynamics, asset performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Protocol analysis and integration (IEC, DNP3, Modbus, ICCP etc.), with a keen understanding of TNSP operational procedures and constraints.
• Market systems and dispatch processes, including scheduling impacts of variable renewable energy (VRE), battery integration, and demand response mechanisms.
• Strategic policy development, compliance mapping, and scenario modelling in response to evolving energy rules and grid transformation challenges.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• Deep knowledge of SCADA, EMS, and PI Historian technologies used across transmission or generation environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting control room operations within utilities, system operators, or TNSPs.
• Familiarity with energy market systems, including dispatch, forecasting, and bidding processes.
• Exposure to renewable integration challenges, grid security, and network constraints.
• Confidence engaging with technical SMEs, engineers, policy advisors, and IT stakeholders.
• Exceptional analytical, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Passion for contributing to Australia’s energy transition and energy security.
