Senior Business Analyst – Energy Distribution

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with deep experience in the Australian energy sector to join a leading energy distributor based in Melbourne. This role is ideal for an experienced BA who has worked on energy reform initiatives, particularly in projects related to the National Electricity Market (NEM), Five-Minute Settlement (5MS), or Energy Applications such as Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Wide Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS).

• 6-month rolling contract.

THE ROLE:
• Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to elicit, define, and document business requirements for energy reform projects.
• Conduct detailed process mapping, gap analysis, and impact assessments for upcoming regulatory changes in the NEM framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design, development, and implementation of solutions across EMS, WAMS, and other energy applications.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with market changes such as 5MS and other evolving energy reforms.
• Engage with market bodies, regulators, and industry stakeholders to align project outcomes with industry requirements.
• Facilitate workshops, drive stakeholder engagement, and ensure effective communication of technical concepts to business users.
• Support project delivery using Agile and Waterfall methodologies where appropriate.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years of Business Analysis experience in the Australian energy sector, particularly in NEM market reform projects.
• Strong knowledge of 5-Minute Settlement (5MS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and/or Wide Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS).
• Proven experience working on energy reform initiatives and regulatory-driven changes.
• Ability to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into clear documentation and actionable insights.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising with AEMO, market participants, and industry regulators.
• Proficiency in business analysis tools such as JIRA, Confluence, BPMN, Visio, and Agile methodologies.
• Experience working in large-scale energy transformation projects.
• Exceptional communication and facilitation skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
