Job Description
The National Park Service is hiring a Seasonal Biological Science Technician in Garfield, AR. The role involves performing biological tasks for natural resource management, including data collection, equipment maintenance, and field observations. Technicians will ensure data quality and provide preliminary assessments. The position is open to the first 50 applicants until 04/02/2025, with a salary of $19.33 per hour.
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of the position is to perform routine and uncomplicated biological science tasks common to natural resource management. Open to the first 50 applicants or until 04/02/2025 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration. MAJOR DUTIES: Major duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs natural resource management surveys following instructions and standardized procedures. Collects and organizes field data. Ensures adequate quality control of data collected. Performs routine and recurring testing of collected samples. Records all data collected and provides preliminary assessment and classification of the information. Makes field observations of natural resource conditions. Evaluates observed conditions and problems and makes preliminary determinations on the cause of problems noted. Provides results to higher-level specialists for analysis. Installs, operates, and maintains resource management equipment (e.g., tools, traps, and sampling, monitoring, photographic, and laboratory equipment). Inventories equipment, evaluates quality assurance compliance, and calibrates equipment as necessary. Orders replacement parts, new equipment, and supplies. Provides information to other employees and visitors about the natural resource management program. Utilizes a variety of computer programs to compile, reduce, store, retrieve, analyze, and report data and other resource management information, including natural science research and long-term monitoring projects.
