SMA Australia Pty. Ltd. is seeking a Sales Business Development Manager for Large Scale Projects, responsible for managing client relationships and facilitating sales for utility scale projects in Australia. The role involves business development, tender responses, and contract negotiations, requiring coordination with stakeholders both locally and globally. This is a hybrid position, allowing a mix of remote work and office presence in North Sydney.

Ltd. | Australia SMA Australia has a full-time opportunity for a talented Sales & Business Development Manager in our Large-Scale team. The position is hybrid ie, a mix of working from home and working at our North Sydney office.About the role:The Sales & Business Development Manager is responsible for managing critical client relationships and facilitating the sales process for utility scale projects in Australia. The role involves all customer interfaces required to secure and close project sales. This includes business development, tender response, preparing quotations, commercial review and contract negotiation for large-scale projects from 2MW to >500MW. This process will include extensive coordination with various internal stakeholders across Australia and company headquarters in Germany. The role includes the close management of relationships with various key developers, IPPs, EPCs, consultants and regulatory authorities in the Australian renewable energy market.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Secure and maintain customer relationships with key decision makers in the utility scale renewable energy sector Work closely with internal stakeholders (globally) to ensure the smooth flow of the sales process Understand customers’ needs and requirements for projects Review customer specifications and tenders, work with the team to provide appropriate responses Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of the SMA product range and its applications Management of the sales process through Salesforce & SAP Methodical approach to documentation & organisation Ability to prepare and manage large tenders and manage deadlines Ability to understand and minimise commercial & contractual risks for SMA Ability to manage contract negotiation independently Key Performance Indicators: maximising project sales in EUR, maintaining project profitability, maximising order intake What’s in it for youWe offer a competitive salary and great company benefits and perks, such as an annual bonus and an additional 5 days paid leave at Xmas. Experience & Skills: 3+ years sales, development, or business development experience in the project space Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to confidently present SMA products and services to senior industry players. Ability to understand and address customer complaints, as well as handling objections and negotiating terms. Ability to understand technical aspects of SMA products & customer specifications. Exceptional relationship building, time management & problem-solving skills. Ability to adjust strategies based on client feedback or market shifts. Understanding of legal and commercial terms. History of meeting and exceeding sales targets. Experience working in a cross-cultural environment across multiple offices, teams and various time zones. Experience in commercial contract negotiation in project business and Large Scale procurement and / or supply chain management. Experience managing new business leads from prospecting to closing. Experience in the renewable energy industry, as well as a familiarity with power conversion equipment is strongly preferrable. Experience working with an overseas based manufacturer. Hands-on experience with customer relationship management tools eg. Salesforce.
