About the position
The Safety Technician position at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park involves overseeing the protection of facilities and sites of historical significance, ensuring safety and fire protection, and advising management on safety programs. The role includes monitoring access to the park and managing fire protection programs, as well as providing operational guidance for asset management related to vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities
• Oversee and ensure the protection of facilities and sites of historical and cultural significance.

• Monitor a complex alarm/remote monitoring system for fire, intrusion, maintenance, and environmental protection.

• Manage structural and wildland fire protection and prevention programs to ensure life safety of park personnel and visitors.

• Assist the Zone Safety Manager in executing the safety and occupational health program for the park.

• Provide operational guidance for life-cycle asset management including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of fleet assets.
Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship required.

• At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, or one full year of graduate education, or a combination of education and experience.

• Practical knowledge of occupational and environmental safety hazards, survey techniques, and control and preventive methods.
