About the position

AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment Specialist III to be based in Los Angeles, CA. This role serves as an HSE liaison, interfacing with clients, Joint Venture (JV) teams, construction contractors, and Site Safety Officers (SSOs) to ensure safety performance and overall project safety. The Specialist will develop and implement policies and procedures that promote awareness and compliance with health and safety requirements on the project. This includes providing technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. The Specialist will also draft necessary reports for federal, state, and local agencies, coordinate audits of health and safety programs, and conduct basic health, safety, and environment (HSE) training for employees. Communication is key, as the Specialist will enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance through various programs. Additionally, the role involves administering the HSE program on a large, specialized, complex project, maintaining and updating Site Safety Plans and Training, and developing HSE metrics tracking and reporting mechanisms. It is crucial that HSE incidents are properly reported and investigated as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent education and experience.

• Minimum of 4 years of related experience in safety, health, and environment roles.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Prior ground up and modernization experience in healthcare construction is highly preferred.
