NBCUniversal is seeking a Sustainability Planning Analyst in New York, NY, for a 6-12 month contract role. The analyst will manage long-range sustainability planning, emissions forecasting, and project tracking, collaborating with various teams to report on carbon goals. Candidates should have a background in Environmental Sciences or related fields, with 3+ years of sustainability experience and strong analytical skills. This position is not remote.
Sustainability Planning Analyst | NBCUniversal | New York, NY

Reports to: Manager, Sustainability Strategy

The NBCUniversal Team is looking for a Sustainability Planning Analyst! In this role, you will own long-range sustainability planning, our emissions forecasting model, and the analytical rigor of our sustainability projects. You will work hand-in-hand with Sustainability Program Managers, Finance, and our internal partners to analyze sustainability projects and track them, translating between dollars and carbon with ease. You will report progress on our carbon goals to senior leadership.

This is a full-time contract position 6-12 months, can change based off business need.

What You’ll Do
• Manage NBCU’s Sustainability Long Range Plan, a model that tracks ongoing sustainability projects against our emissions reduction and cost of carbon neutral including:
• Maintain a robust project tracker that includes both financial, carbon, and energy data on an ongoing basis
• Manage weekly project tracking meetings & follow-up on necessary information and documentation
• Report project status and emissions reduction run rate to executives, and project managers across the business
• Responsible for the submission of our annual Sustainability long range plan to Finance
• Own our emissions forecasts and progress to goal
• Responsible for our Scope 1+2 emissions forecast model and reporting progress to goal regularly based on status of project tracking
• Develop methodology for emissions forecast model with Comcast & NBCU Sustainability Data Solution teams and provide annual submission
• Manage emission forecast model and science-based target pathway both for NBCU enterprise and individual business units and sites. Provide real-time dashboards for business unit leaders to help manage their targets in line with our reduction goals.
• Build Scope 3 emissions forecast model and improve as needed
• Support the calculation & documentation process for project tracking including:
• Assist Sustainability Program Managers with financial & carbon calculations for projects along with vetting data provided by project teams
• Build a process for documenting emission reductions with auditable reporting for finance teams
• Collaborate with Sustainability Data Solutions team on consistent methodologies for tracking emission reductions along with reporting renewable energy for our annual emissions inventory

Let’s Talk About You…
• Highly detail-oriented and spreadsheet pro experienced presenting analytics and auditing data
• Well-rounded sustainability expert comfortable forming an opinion on a broad range of carbon reduction projects and emissions accounting methodologies
• Data modeling wizard comfortable building large databases or calculation models for forecasting and tracking
• Curiosity and initiative to build something new and constantly innovate

What You Have…
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental Sciences/Studies, Sustainability, Business, Finance, Data Engineering, or equivalent
• 3+ years of sustainability-related work experience with demonstrated success
• 1+ years of experience in financial analysis, carbon reduction project vetting, emission forecasting, and building dynamic program trackers in Excel, Smartsheet, Tableau, Domo, Salesforce, or other analytics tools
• 1+ years of experience in environmental sustainability and relevant technical skills, such as greenhouse gas accounting, renewable energy tracking, and carbon accounting

What You Maybe Have…
• Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Finance, Management, Energy, or relevant program
• Experience working within a lean but focused internal organization that relies heavily on external providers to deliver high-quality and timely work product
• Familiarity with theme parks, broadcast, data centers, or studio business segments
• Experience working in Finance, Accounting, Sourcing, or similar departments
• CPA, CMA, or other financial accreditation
