Job Description

O’Reilly, Talbot & Okun is hiring a Sr. Environmental Scientist/Engineer in Springfield, MA. The role involves conducting environmental sampling, guiding subcontractors, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Candidates should have a relevant degree, 3-5 years of experience, and necessary certifications. The position requires travel throughout New England and working outdoors in various conditions. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
DESCRIPTION

Perform municipal and internet research on project locations.

Perform environmental (soil, water, air) and building materials sampling activities.

Observe, document and guide subcontractors in the advancement of excavations, soil borings and monitoring well installations.

Provide scientific analysis and regulatory interpretation of data.

Compile results, present findings, and prepare reports.

Obtain/maintain licensure/registration, as appropriate.

Observe and promote company values and culture.

Perform related duties as needed to meet client objectives.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Must be flexible and team-oriented with outstanding communication, organizational, analytical, writing, and time management skills.

Must be adaptable and willing to learn.

Must have reliable automobile and driver’s license with good driving record and be able to travel (typically throughout MA and CT, but also other parts of New England).

Must be able to work outdoors or at construction sites under variable weather conditions, and be accountable for equipment and tools used as part of projects.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. of equipment.

Background checks may be required for some work assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS or higher degree in natural, chemical or physical science or engineering or related science discipline.

3-5 years of relevant field experience collecting environmental and building materials samples in Connecticut and/or Massachusetts.

Proficiency with office productivity software.

OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour refreshers; 10-hour Construction Safety certification.
