Job Description
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is hiring a Maintenance Worker 1 for a 40-hour work week in Hammonton, NJ. Description
Under direction of a supervisory official in a state department, institution, or agency, improves and maintains the physical condition of state property primarily by performing routine manual work; does other related duties as required.
Specific to Position
The responsibilities of the position include custodial services for patron health and safety, major/minor repairs, snow removal, basic painting, carpentry, roadway and outdoor recreation facilities. Also responsible for the care and maintenance of the infrastructures, grounds and out areas of the park(s) including but not limited to ground maintenance, janitorial services, CBT projects and vehicle/equipment maintenance. State Park Service operations are seven-day year-round operations requiring weekend, holiday and after-hour coverage.
Duties will include the cleaning of restrooms, bathhouses, offices and off-site facilities; maintaining campsites; maintenance of park facilities; planning and making purchases for projects; general maintenance and upkeep of all buildings and grounds; mowing of lawn areas; snow/ice removal; clearing trees and trails; and upkeep of historic structures.
Operation of a state vehicle will require appointee to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of experience in the maintenance of forests and/or parks or in general maintenance and repair work involving a variety of carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and/or related tasks.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
Appointees may be required to obtain a NJ Certified Pesticide Applicator's or Operator's permit in the required categories.
Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.

Residency
