Position Summary: This course invites students to consider pressing global issues through the lens of social and environmental justice. Students will develop skills for identifying theoretical frameworks, and synthesizing and integrating disciplinary perspectives. Key content may include gender inequality, unequal access to education and healthcare, economic disparity, climate change, the politics of Indigeneity, digital rights and privacy, and the impact of war.

Topics will be examined in light of political, ideological and cultural influences aimed at sustaining, questioning, or overturning the status quo.

Note: this course is taught in an asynchronous online method and already has course content developed.

Qualifications – Other: Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate either (i) a record of interdisciplinary research in understanding and analyzing contemporary global environmental and social justice issues OR (ii) interdisciplinary teaching experience relating to understanding and analyzing contemporary global environmental and social justice issues.

This appointment is in accordance with the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement , for which the Wilfrid Laurier Faculty Association (WLUFA) is the exclusive bargaining agent. All applicants are assessed using both the “Appendix H:
