Job Description
Agilitas Energy is seeking a SCADA Engineer in Wakefield, MA, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems for renewable energy projects. Key responsibilities include system design, maintenance, data management, compliance, and collaboration with project teams. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields, with at least 3 years of relevant experience and strong technical skills in SCADA systems and renewable energy.

The SCADA Engineer position is a key member of the project team and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems for our renewable energy projects, including solar, battery energy storage, and hydroelectric facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our energy management systems.
Scope of Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
• SCADA System Design and Implementation:
• Develop and configure SCADA systems to monitor and control renewable energy production.
• Collaborate with project teams to define requirements and specifications for SCADA systems.
• Ensure integration with field devices, sensors, and other control systems.
• System Maintenance and Support:
• Coordinate regular system updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance of SCADA software and hardware.
• Monitor system performance and resolve any issues to minimize downtime and enhance reliability.
• Provide technical support and training to operational staff on SCADA system functionalities.
• Data Management and Analysis:
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data from SCADA systems to optimize energy production and efficiency.
• Generate reports on system performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Work with data analytics teams to leverage SCADA data for predictive maintenance and operational efficiency.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure SCADA systems comply with industry standards and regulations, including cybersecurity protocols.
• Collaborate with safety teams to implement best practices and maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with engineers, technicians, and management to ensure seamless project execution.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide insights on SCADA-related challenges and advancements.
Job Skills
• Base level understanding of the solar/energy storage design and construction process.
• Excellent time and workload management skills
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to deliver creative solutions.
• Self-driven, highly motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
• High degree of attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, civil and/or architectural drawings.
• Strong work ethic with a passion to advance renewable energy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Microsoft Project and Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Background and Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proven experience (3+ years) in SCADA system design and implementation, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
• Familiarity with NERC CIP/FERC Standards
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850).
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
