The Brighton i360 is a leading visitor attraction in Brighton, offering unique experiences for guests of all ages. We are committed to sustainability and ensuring that our gift shop aligns with ethical and environmental values by partnering with like-minded suppliers.
The Retail Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the gift shop and Café, ensuring an excellent visitor shopping experience while managing stock, purchasing with a focus on sustainability. This role requires a strategic approach to retail management, supplier relationships, and stock selection that aligns with the attraction's values.Key Responsibilities
Retail Management & Customer Experience
• Manage the daily operations of the gift shop and café, ensuring high standards of customer service.
• Train and develop retail staff to provide knowledgeable and engaging service.
• Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to maximize revenue.
• Ensure the shop layout, merchandising, and product displays enhance visitor experience and encourage sales.
• Manage stock levels to ensure availability of popular products while minimising waste.
Sustainable Purchasing & Supplier Relations
• Develop and implement a purchasing strategy focused on sustainability and ethical sourcing.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers who share environmental and ethical values.
• Source unique, high-quality, and sustainable products that align with the attraction's brand.
• Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Stay updated on sustainable retail trends to introduce innovative products and practices.
Stock & Revenue Management
• Monitor and analyse sales data to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Implement stock control measures to reduce waste and improve profitability.
• Work closely with the finance team to track sales, revenue, and expenditure.
• Identify opportunities for exclusive or branded product lines to enhance visitor engagement.
Compliance & Health & Safety
• Ensure all retail and café operations adhere to company policies, health & safety regulations, and food hygiene standards.
Marketing & Promotional Activities
• Collaborate with the marketing team to promote gift shop and cafe products through social media and onsite marketing.
• Plan and execute seasonal promotions and special events to drive sales.
• Develop partnerships with local artisans and eco-friendly brands to create exclusive products.Behaviours

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience in managing budgets, stock levels, and supplier negotiations.
• Strong understanding of merchandising and customer engagement strategies.
• Ability to identify trends and adapt product offerings accordingly.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
• Experience working in a visitor attraction, museum, or heritage site.
• Familiarity with POS and inventory management systems.
