Job Description

The Resource Development & Sustainability VISTA position at AmeriCorps in Portland, OR, focuses on increasing access to nutrition education for low-income families through the SNACK program. Members will engage in grant writing, resource development, and community partnerships, serving primarily through indirect service. This role allows for remote work two days a week and offers professional development opportunities, training, and a stipend. Early applications are encouraged.
This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team in service at SNACK. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and support from VISTA team leaders and project director. The Western Oregon Center for Pediatric Therapeutic Lifestyle Change is more commonly known as the SNACK program. SNACK’s mission is to support the health and well-being of children and families in Yamhill County through child-centered, weight-neutral nutrition education embedded in trusted community spaces, supporting the development of lifelong healthy habits. We prioritize equitable access and honor the cultural and socioeconomic needs of the families we serve. We serve community through 3 main services: family nutrition appointments, cooking and nutrition classes, and community wellness days. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will increase access to nutrition education for low-income children and families by building diversified funding streams and scalable program delivery systems that support long-term sustainability and expansion of the Student Nutrition & Activity Clinic for Kids (SNACK) program. The member will expand program delivery to additional sites by standardizing materials and systems. The member will also contribute to community engagement by developing and nurturing partnerships. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to develop skills in grant writing, resource development, quality improvement, and community engagement. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve Oregonians through indirect service and capacity building, meaning the work you will do is the behind-the-scenes work. You will serve in a professional office, with the opportunity to do teleservice 2 days a week. Ideal applicants will have experience with Google Workspace, project planning, writing and editing.
