About the position

The Resilient Programs Manager plays a crucial role in leading initiatives that enhance the resilience of communities, particularly in the face of environmental, social, and economic challenges. This position is centered on working directly with neighborhoods and residents to foster resilience, adapt to changes, and mitigate the impacts of climate change affecting the residents of Detroit. The manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that address various challenges related to environmental and social resilience, ensuring that the projects align with the organizational priorities and the needs of the community. In this role, the Resilient Programs Manager will collaborate with various city departments and stakeholders to create comprehensive plans for resilient programs. This includes cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration, as well as navigating regulatory processes to secure necessary approvals and permits for project implementation. The manager will also oversee vendor relationships throughout the project execution, monitoring performance and addressing any issues that arise. Additionally, the Resilient Programs Manager will be tasked with monitoring project performance metrics and benchmarks, making data-driven decisions to optimize outcomes. Regular progress reports and updates will be prepared for city leadership and stakeholders, ensuring transparency regarding project status and achievements. This position is vital for driving the city’s sustainability efforts and enhancing the quality of life for Detroit residents.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in city planning, environmental studies, sustainability, public policy, or related field; or minimum of four+ years of lived experience in advancing community-based environmental projects.

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex initiatives and ensure timely delivery of outcomes.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrated through the ability to build effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

• Experience working with Detroit residents and community groups.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in group facilitation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.

• Experience managing interagency collaborations and navigating bureaucratic processes.

• Self-starter, with a strong work ethic, who is flexible and open to change and able to work in a group or independently.
