Job Description

Brizaga is hiring a Resilience Planner in Fort Lauderdale, FL, to lead resilience planning projects focused on climate change and flood adaptation. The role involves project management, client communication, GIS analysis, and stakeholder presentations. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree, project management experience, and strong skills in GIS and climate science. Brizaga is seeking a creative and self-driven team player to join our team at the forefront of the climate change and flood resilience industry. Founded in 2017, we are focused on improving the lives of others by creating products, processes, and tools that reduce the impact of climate change and rising seas on our environment, economy, and society. As recognized industry experts, we continuously engage in local, state, and national discussions surrounding engineering, environmental, and resilience policy.

The Resilience Planner will lead and manage resilience planning projects, including but not limited to vulnerability assessments and adaptation plans. This work is primarily focused on the local and regional scale, with the specific aim of assisting our neighbor communities to identify capital improvement priorities, develop strategies to adapt to more frequent and severe flooding due to sea level rise, and improve transparency across stakeholder groups.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Provide project management and document control for resilience projects;
Provide effective client communication and coordination with strategic partners;
Develop and maintain project plans including scope, objectives, schedules, resources, and deliverables;
Lead the production of GIS analysis and report production, including the mentorship of junior team members to further develop their skills;
Develop and provide presentations to various stakeholders including the general public to detail methodologies and findings, and respond to questions;
Perform quality assurance reviews in coordination with team members in other focus areas; and
Assist with scope and fee development for resilience planning and related projects.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental science, GIS, engineering, or a related field;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in successful project management;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS;
Strong understanding of resilience, adaptation, and climate science;
Excellent organizational and time-management skills; and
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
