About The Position

We are seeking an innovative and driven researcher to join our dynamic team focusing on chemical process modeling and life cycle assessment. This role combines expertise in chemical engineering, environmental sciences, and computational modelling to tackle complex challenges in sustainability and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement mathematical models for chemical processes, including mass and energy balances, chemical reactions, and diffusion processes.
• Perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of chemical and biological processes to evaluate environmental impacts across various technological readiness levels.
• Utilize and enhance LCA software tools (e.g., OpenLCA, SimaPro, Gabi) and chemical process simulation environments (e.g., EES, Matlab, Python, OpenModelica).
• Conduct sensitivity analyses, optimization studies, and life-cycle cost analyses to identify effective solutions and cost drivers.
• Maintain LCA inventories and databases, ensuring data quality for modeling.
• Implement Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) frameworks in product and process development.
• Develop custom Python scripts to enhance LCA models and data integration.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to collect data, understand project objectives, and communicate findings.
• Stay current with innovations in modeling techniques, LCA methodologies, and sustainability practices.
• Contribute to R&D projects and intellectual property development.

Minimum Requirements
• BSc in Chemical Engineering or related field; advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.
• Strong background in chemical process modeling and life cycle assessment.
• Proficiency in programming languages (Python, MATLAB, or C++) for model development and data analysis.
• Experience with LCA software tools and chemical process simulation environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• High proficiency in English (minimum B2 level) in comprehension, conversation, and writing.
