The Research Scientist, Sr. position at Jornada Experimental Range Headquarters focuses on enhancing sustainability and resilience in rangelands through advanced research. The role involves leading significant scientific research activities, making authoritative decisions, and developing innovative approaches in the field of agricultural science, particularly related to livestock and climate data analysis.

Responsibilities
• Lead the development of a web-based digital ranching dashboard to gather, curate, analyze, and visualize livestock, climate, and remote sensing data.

• Develop advanced computational intelligence and machine learning techniques to analyze livestock behavior and vegetation patterns.

• Develop and maintain a scalable data server system and data services.
,
• Prepare analyses, reports, and documentation for scientific publications and present findings at various meetings.

• Prepare grant proposals to secure funding for research activities.
,
• Serve as principal investigator on complex research projects and manage a research unit.

• Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art technology and systems relevant to the research.

• Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students and less experienced project team members.

Requirements
• Doctorate degree in a related field.
