Research Manager Sustainable Fisheries

Minderoo Foundation is seeking a Research Manager for Sustainable Fisheries in Western Australia. The Sustainable Fisheries team delivers a range of programs, including partnering with on-ground organizations to deliver fisheries improvements and increase sustainability, building evidence and political momentum for regulatory reform domestically and internationally, and investing in innovative technologies and creating new information sources to improve fisheries sustainability.

As a Research Lead you will be responsible for the design and execution of the Minderoo Foundation's Global Fishing Index, synthesizing information on stock sustainability across the world's oceans. The role will also involve development and leadership of other projects across the program, touching on a wide range of data sources and project objectives.

Immediate duties will be the leadership of the governance component of the Global Fishing Index, including but not limited to:

- Develop a conceptual framework for data collection, synthesis, and production of policy and governance metrics.
- Stakeholder engagement and project development/selection/leadership.
- Management of staff supporting the GFI and other projects in the fisheries program.
- Use department tools, systems, and resources for project management.
- Prepare scientific publications, reports, briefing notes and study files on topics relevant to the Fisheries Program.
• Qualifications*:
You hold a Doctorate in public policy and governance, fisheries, marine ecology, or related disciplines.

You have experience in research program design and execution and have previously led large scientific projects.

You can translate and disseminate scientific knowledge into recommendations and actions.

You have high standards in work ethic with self-driven direction.

You have strong written and oral communication skills in scientific contexts.

You can demonstrate tertiary level research techniques

You have well developed analytical skills

You have strong project coordination and organisational skills
