Job Description
Tradition Energy is seeking a Research Associate in Stamford, CT, to provide research and insights on energy markets. Responsibilities include writing market commentary, conducting pricing forecasts, assisting retail energy advisors, and communicating with media. The Research Team at Tradition Energy is a highly visible, critical part of our success. In this role, you will be responsible for providing important information and research about the Energy Markets internally as well as externally to our clients. Scope of Position:
• Write daily energy market commentary and produce ad-hoc reports on power, natural gas, and utilities.
• Conduct a variety of commodity pricing forecasts used in the firm’s quarterly market forecast reports.
• Assist Tradition’s retail energy advisors with market due diligence, purchasing strategies, and legislative developments.
• Coauthor the firm’s weekly US as well as monthly energy market reports.
• Research regulatory developments in the power and utilities sector and author Tradition’s monthly Rate Case Newsletter.
• Communicate directly with News/Media outlets on an as-needed basis.
• Learn utility supply tariff structures and be able to provide Utility Price To Compare (PTC) for deregulated markets.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience in Energy Commodity markets. Electricity and Natural Gas experience preferred.
• Experience in Research or Journalism preferred.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel (Visual Basic skills a plus).
• Ability to chart and manipulate data using Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent writing skills.
