Job Description
Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Assistant for a 9-month contract in Singapore, focusing on enhancing science inquiry through XR technology. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in social sciences, preferably with experience in science education. Responsibilities include literature reviews, lesson development, data management, and report writing. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 9-month contract at the Natural Sciences and Science Education Department.
Project Title: Enhancing Epistemic Scaffolding in Science Inquiry through the Integration of Extended Reality and Student-generated Representations
Project Introduction: With advancements in XR technology, this project aims to develop a new pedagogical strategy that integrates AR or VR resources with student-generated representations for science inquiry. Through this strategy, the research explores the educational affordances of student-generated representation activities combined with AR or VR resources to enhance primary school students' science learning.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree, specialised in social sciences
• Experience in science teaching is preferred
• Qualifications or work experience in science education is preferred
• Good communication, organisational, writing, proof-reading and research skills
• Native or near-native proficiency in English
• Proactive and able to work independently
• Team player with a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities:
• Conduct a literature review to support research
• Work on development of lessons and materials
• Assist and work closely with the research team and partners
• Collect, analyse and manage data
• Write/prepare research reports, publications and presentation materials independently
• Other research and project management tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI).
