Job Description
The Research Assistant role for the SoGreen Project at Manchester Metropolitan University is open to current students based in the UK. The position involves supporting research efforts by identifying stakeholders in the green transition sector, recording their information, and helping develop the SoGreen network. Candidates should have strong research skills, a keen interest in sustainability, and be proficient in Microsoft Office. The role requires independent work and collaboration within a research team.
The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role., This role: The main purpose of this role is to provide research support to colleagues for the SoGreen Project by assisting with the development of a multifaceted network of different audiences and stakeholders who occupy key positions in the green transitions landscape. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in sustainability, excellent research skills, and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be provided with detailed search guidelines, an already established Microsoft Office Excel template, as well as support/ mentoring from the SoGreen staff if needed.,
• Identify major stakeholders working in the field of green transition ranging from third-sector institutions, researchers, academic institutions, public/ private professionals, and commercial organisations.
• Record detailed information on each of the identified stakeholders, such as contact information, relevant expertise, location etc.
• Continue the development of the SoGreen network.
• Perform other related duties as assigned. Miscellaneous You have a legal duty, so far as is reasonably practicable, to ensure that you do not endanger yourself or anyone else by your acts or omissions. In addition, you must cooperate with the University on health and safety matters and must not interfere or misuse anything provided for health, safety and welfare purposes. Such other relevant duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may be assigned by the Manager in agreement with you. Such agreement should not be unreasonably withheld. This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the criteria below: Essential
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme in the field of social sciences.
• Ability to use initiative, creativity and judgement to develop appropriate approaches in order to further research.
• Proficiency in the use of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Office.
• Possess sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge to work within an established research team.
• Experience on data collection.
• Experience on data entry.
• Experience of presenting and communicating complex information to a range of audiences, both orally and in writing
• Experience of prioritising work independently and as part of a team in order to deliver individual and team objectives
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Desirable
• Knowledge on sustainability and/ or the green transition.
