Purpose:

CEEWsRisks and Adaptation team seeks to hire a Research Analyst position in the AirQuality team to expand its capacity to conduct field research in the area ofagricultural residue burning in northwestern India and air quality managementin India. The ideal candidate must have prior knowledge of agriculturalpolicies in India interlinkages between agriculture and air pollution as wellas the current air quality policy ecosystem.

Thesuccessful applicant will assist the team members in undertaking extensivefield research including stakeholder engagement and robust quantitative andqualitative analysis. In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlinedbelow the Research Analyst should be prepared as and when necessary to takeon additional responsibilities and respond to events and developments thatcannot be anticipated easily.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Research

Independentlymanage allocated workstreams on quantitative and quantitative applied researchon agricultural and air quality issues in Northwestern states of India.

Identifyingkey research question(s) designing the research approach/framework collectionof data and data analyses using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitativeand presenting the analyses in a coherent narrative in different formats suchas journal publications reports oped articles and consultation meetings.

Travel tofield sites whenever necessary to conduct fieldwork including focus groupdiscussions interviews meetings training and gathering primary information.

Regularlytrack policy measures taken by the government and their implementation statusthat connects sustainable agriculture and air quality in India and globally.

Writehighquality research reports publish in leading peerreviewed journals andgenerate other knowledge products for the different audiences such as blogspolicy briefs in regular intervals.

Establishing and managing relationshipswith diverse stakeholders ranging from research organisations experts inagricultural finance and insurance grassroot organisations and governmentdepartments.

Programme assistance

Supportthe senior researchers in conceptualising new projects development ofhighimpact research proposals stakeholder engagement events and applicationsfor research and general donor funding.

Supporteffective outreach of research outputs through coordination with the outreachteam engagement with a broader network of stakeholders and concernedpolicymakers.

Participatein relevant conferences workshops and training programmes for a comprehensiveunderstanding of developments relevant to the agriculture and air qualitysector.

Shortlisting Criteria

Qualification

Bachelors/Masters degree inengineering environmental policy agricultural economics and related streams.

Work Experience

12 years experience in policy research

Relevant research experience in the domain ofagriculture and/or air quality management.

Experience in dealing with stakeholders(farmers grassroots workers government etc.

Experience in field research for datacollection/training of enumerators/sampling of households/pilottesting/monitoring activities (preferred)

Familiarity with Punjabscontribution to Indias agriculture sector the states agricultural policyframework and crop residue management is desirable

Key skills

Must be proficient in PunjabiHindi and English

Must have strong communication skills foreffective efficient and adaptive verbal and written communication and activelistening

Experiencein using statistical software R/Stata/Python

Must have strong research skills the capability to carry out systematicliterature review familiarity with research methods is a bonus
