The position:
Ballast Environmental is currently seeking an experienced environmental professional for a part-time or contract role focused on final technical review and sign-off of environmental project deliverables. This role is fully remote-friendly and ideally suited to individuals based in Alberta, British Columbia, or Saskatchewan who are looking for a flexible arrangement while applying their technical expertise.
This opportunity is well-suited to semi-retired professionals, independent consultants, or anyone seeking flexible work that allows for remote contribution to impactful environmental work.
· Conduct in-depth technical reviews of Phase 1, 2 and 3 Environmental Site Assessments and regulatory submissions.
· Ensure the quality, completeness, and compliance of all final documentation in line with provincial regulations (Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan).
· Provide professional sign-off and final approval of deliverables on behalf of Ballast Environmental.
· Liaise with internal project teams remotely to discuss findings, provide feedback, and finalize documents.
· Contribute recommendations to improve internal quality assurance and sign-off procedures.
Minimum requirements:
· Professional designation (e.g., P.Biol., P.Geo., P.Ag., or equivalent) with authority to sign off on Phase 1, 2 and 3 environmental reports in AB. Sign off for BC and SK would be an asset.
· Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental consulting or regulatory review, with deep knowledge of ESAs.
· Working understanding of environmental standards and legislation in Western Canada.
· Proven ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail and excellent written communication.
· Remote work capabilities, including reliable internet and familiarity with virtual collaboration tools.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
