Renewables Project Developer

Vertex Solutions is seeking a Renewables Project Developer to manage utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects in Germany. The role involves overseeing all development phases, including site selection, permitting, and stakeholder engagement. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in renewable energy, particularly with projects over 100 MW, and must be fluent in German. The position requires travel across project sites.

Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive Project Developer to lead the development of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Germany. This role requires a strong background in renewable energy project development with a proven track record of delivering projects over 100 MW. Proficiency in German is essential.

You will manage all phases of the development lifecycle—from site selection and land acquisition through permitting, grid connection, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and manage utility-scale solar and BESS projects (100+ MW) from greenfield through ready-to-build.
• Identify and secure suitable land, including negotiations with landowners and communities.
• Navigate permitting processes and ensure compliance with German planning and environmental regulations.
• Obtain grid connection approvals and coordinate with TSOs and network operators.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, landowners, residents, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams (technical, legal, finance) and external consultants to progress projects efficiently.
• Monitor project risks, timelines, and budgets, reporting regularly to senior management.
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development, including large-scale solar and BESS.
• Demonstrated experience with projects exceeding 100 MW capacity.
• Fluent in German (written and spoken); strong command of English.
• Expertise in land acquisition, permitting, grid interconnection, and stakeholder management in the German market.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel across project sites and stakeholder meetings as needed.
