Job Description

Southern Company is seeking a Renewable Site Manager for its wind facilities in Oklahoma and Kansas. This role involves overseeing operations, maintenance, safety leadership, employee development, compliance, and budget management for about 1,000 megawatts of renewable generation. The position requires at least 5 years of experience in generating plants and supervisory roles, with a focus on fostering a positive work environment and collaborating with various teams.
About the position

The Renewable Site Manager is responsible for leading and directing Operations and Maintenance activities for Southern Power's wind facilities in the midwestern United States. This role focuses on safety leadership, employee development, compliance assurance, operational performance, maintenance strategy, and budget management, overseeing approximately 1,000 megawatts of renewable generation with potential for future growth.

Responsibilities
• Provide leadership for all aspects of five wind facilities located in Oklahoma and Kansas.

• Actively foster a positive and respectful work environment and an inclusive culture that invites a questioning attitude, open dialogue, and regular feedback.

• Develop wind site managers and deputy site managers, including technical and leadership training for career growth.

• Demonstrate safety leadership, ensuring 'Safety First' is prioritized as Southern Company's number one value.

• Ensure compliance with all requirements and regulations at the facilities.
,
• Serve as a backup to site managers for on-site duties as needed.
,
• Execute and release Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) at facilities as needed.
,
• Collaborate with site teams, asset managers, engineers, and commercial teams to maintain peak performance of the facilities.
,
• Implement maintenance strategies to ensure high reliability of plant equipment and effective outage planning.
,
• Identify opportunities to lead various projects supporting the overall renewables fleet.
,
• Establish strong working relationships with OEM teams and support site managers with decisions or issues involving OEM.
,
• Participate in Wind Operating Review Board (ORB).
,
• Work with Budget Analysts to manage facility budgets in alignment with Southern Power's financial goals.

• Develop relationships and communicate effectively with customers, landowners, and community leaders.
,
• Encourage efforts to support the communities served.

Requirements
• Minimum 5 years generating plant experience required.
,
• Minimum 5 years supervisory/management experience of technical employees strongly preferred; management of remote employees is a plus.

• High voltage electrical experience highly desired.
,
• Experience with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) highly desired.
,
• Wind generation experience preferred.
,
• Experience with construction and/or start-up of a power plant highly desirable.
,
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
,
• Capital and O&M budget experience with financial decision-making preferred.
,
• Project management experience preferred.
,
• Work experience using Maximo preferred.
,
• Working knowledge of electrical safety standards preferred.
,
• Effective written and oral communication skills required; ability to interface with a variety of internal and external audiences.
