Job Description

Talisman is seeking a Renewable Energy Technician in Springfield, IL. Responsibilities include assembly, maintenance, and repair of renewable energy systems, conducting inspections, performing safety analyses, and documenting maintenance activities. Candidates should have a high school diploma, experience with tools, and the ability to work in various environments. The role requires physical capability, certification for electrical work, and a valid driver's license. Travel may be required for training or assignments.
Job Description
• Perform assembly, commissioning, testing, operations, maintenance, and repairs on renewable energy systems including wind equipment, solar structures, energy storage units, plant equipment, communications, monitoring stations, IT equipment, and electrical infrastructure
• Conduct equipment inspections and troubleshooting, record and analyze operational data, identify abnormal conditions and implement appropriate corrective actions
• Perform safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards across all facility components and operational areas
• Contribute to technical failure investigations to determine root causes and prevention strategies
• Prioritize safety, quality, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance through proper training application, experience, and adherence to established protocols
• Report any incidents (safety, environmental or regulatory), injuries or unsafe conditions immediately
• Maintain workspace cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
• Document all corrective and preventive maintenance activities accurately and maintain comprehensive records
• Diagnose, adjust, repair, and/or modify electrical, mechanical or hydraulic components throughout the facility's systems
• Execute preventative maintenance duties efficiently and safely
• Utilize appropriate safety equipment and energy control procedures to ensure work safety
• Conduct thorough safety and hazard assessments before and during work assignments
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
• Keep all required certifications and qualifications current
• Perform electrical operations throughout the facility, working with various voltage systems
• Additional responsibilities as needed
• Required Skills And Competencies
• High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
• Willingness to travel for training or work assignments with advance notice
• Ability to work overtime and rotating shifts including night work when necessary
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Self-directed work capability
• Physical ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
• Comfort with heights and ability to climb vertical structures up to 300 feet
• Capacity to work in diverse environments including indoor/outdoor settings, extreme weather conditions, environments with natural allergens, and confined spaces
• Ability to obtain certification for electrical systems work
• Maintenance of all required professional certifications
• Valid driver's license with good driving record
• Availability to reach the work site within 45 minutes during emergencies
• Ability to obtain appropriate travel documentation
