Job Description
Sustainable Investors is seeking a Renewable Energy Business Development Associate in Minnesota. The role involves contacting landowners for utility-scale renewable energy projects, managing meetings, providing information, and maintaining data. Candidates should have experience in business development or related fields, possess strong communication skills, and be willing to travel. This commission-based position offers potential for high earnings based on deal completion.
ABOUT US:
Sustainable Investors is a Minnesota-based company involved in the acquisition and management of long-term lease/easement agreements with landowners that are participating in renewable energy projects including wind and solar energy. We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to contact landowners and walk them through our program benefits and the overall transaction process.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• You’ll primarily work with landowners who are participating in utility-scale energy projects.
• Setting up meetings (phone calls, direct mailings, local advertising, etc.) and facilitating those meetings.
• Work with interested landowners to answer their questions and provide them with all necessary information to make a decision and complete the process.
• Manage and maintain data lists including landowner contact information, project information, meeting history details, etc. Regularly update data and keep management informed on the status of each deal.
• Be available to meet with landowners when it’s most convenient for them which could sometimes mean evenings and weekends – travel may be required.
• Work closely with the main office regarding landowner updates, needs, and ongoing training and support.
• A typical deal from start to finish may include scheduling a meeting, initial meeting/introductions/program discussion, follow-up, paperwork processing, closing, and ongoing relationship management.
• The position requires someone that can represent themselves and our company in a professional manner with a high level of integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate we are seeking should have experience in new business development, agriculture, renewable energy, real estate, financial advising, or project management. We are looking for someone that is an outgoing self-starter and comfortable coordinating individual or group meetings. The right candidate for this position should have an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work creatively and independently while collaborating with other members of the team. Superior communication and presentation skills are essential. Our process involves a variety of documents that need to be accurately completed so attention to details and organizational skills are a must. The ability to travel to energy project host communities is required.
COMPENSATION:
This is a commission driven position. The successful candidate will earn an above-average income level without being capped. Compensation is configured on a per-deal basis and our program allows you to build a large pipeline of deals that can be worked simultaneously.
