Job Description
Belcan is seeking a Remote Power Systems Software & Control Engineer to support grid-scale energy systems. The role involves designing and implementing control systems, ensuring compliance with grid codes, and utilizing tools like Simulink and SCADA. Candidates should have a degree in Electrical or Software Engineering and over 10 years of relevant experience. While the position is remote, onsite presence in Cincinnati, OH or Windsor, CT is preferred.
A Power Systems Software & Controls Engineer (Senior Grid Scale Energy Engineer) job is currently available through Belcan supporting one of our primary energy customers. This role can be supported remotely from anywhere in the US; however, an onsite presence in Cincinnati, OH or Windsor, CT is preferred. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, developing, and implementing advanced control and network solutions for grid-scale power storage systems. This role focuses on integrating cutting-edge technologies to optimize energy systems while ensuring compliance with grid code requirements.
Job Duties:
• Design and implement control systems for grid-scale power storage systems, including PV systems and battery management systems.
• Develop and configure SCADA and HMI systems, with experience in tools such as GE Cimplicity and MarkVIe.
• Ensure compliance with grid code requirements, collaborating with regulatory bodies as needed.
• Utilize Simulink and other modeling tools for system simulation, validation, and optimization.
• Configure and program advanced networked control systems, including RXI-based platforms.
• Lead the development and integration of power systems communication networks.
• Provide expertise in energy storage systems, renewable integration, and grid interconnectivity.
• Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and validation for performance and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in grid-scale energy systems or related fields.
• Strong understanding of PV systems, battery management systems, and grid code requirements.
• Proficiency in Simulink and other modeling or simulation tools.
• Experience with RXI-based platforms and real-time system integration.
• Solid analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
• Familiarity with emerging technologies in energy storage and renewable energy systems.
• Expertise in MarkVIe, GE Cimplicity, SCADA systems, and HMI development.
• Hands-on experience in field commissioning and operational support.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols for SCADA and networked systems.
Compensation:
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $110,000-130,000 DoE, however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits offered may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance; 401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law.
