About us
Climate Policy Radar
We care deeply about creating trustworthy tools that have a real impact on climate decisions. Our exciting, impactful work is right at the cutting edge of AI, and at the epicentre of global climate action. In 2025, we are bringing in and structuring even more climate documents, improving our search and synthesis functionality, and making it easier for people to make sense of the evidence they need for better, faster climate decisions.
We are a not-for-profit startup, with a team of ~30 technologists and climate policy experts who care a lot about the ‘how’ (our values and culture) as well as the ‘what’. As part of that, we have embraced a flexible, hybrid approach to work, including a 4 day workweek.
We’re looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager to help us tell that story, and raise our profile with decision makers, partners, and users. We are looking for someone who can work from our office in London two days a week.
Roles and responsibilities
We’re looking for someone who is excited about the nuts and bolts of doing marketing and communications for a c. 30-person, not-for-profit startup. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you are responsible for executing our communications strategy.
What does that look like on a day-to-day basis?
When you’re not writing and editing content for the blog, press release and more, you’re updating and maintaining the website and running the Climate Policy Radar social media accounts. You’ll support our Senior Leadership Team with social media and communications for external engagements and events. You will be responsible for writing, directing and publishing what Climate Policy Radar says in public. And you will work with our tech, product and policy experts to share updates and insights from their work.
You’ll be in charge of how all of these perform, and feed into how best to evolve our story and how we tell it. You are someone who has at least five years experience either in-house or in an agency.
You bring with you:
You’re both a thinker and a doer.
A confident, concise writer, you’re as happy turning your hand to editing and originating longform blog posts as you are in tweaking and proofreading copy for presentation decks and reports for funders. You’re great with Canva (or Figma), stay on top of social media trends, and are comfortable editing and updating websites in Squarespace. You’re collaborative, strategic, and practical.
We’re a mission-driven organisation, and work best with people who have strong alignment with our values .
Required experience
We’re looking for people who have:
• Produced high-quality writing that experts enjoy and non-experts understand, especially in highly technical, evolving fields
• Created visual assets to match that writing, with a focus on LinkedIn
• Managed websites and social media accounts on a tight budget
• Measurably increased awareness of brands or organisations, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement
• Worked with internal teams to find what stories to tell and how to tell them
• Been an organised, self-starting project manager
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience in tech, climate and/or innovation
Nice to have
• Knowledge of SEO
• Experience working with digital products
• Worked on go-to-market strategies for technical products, including launches, product updates, and features
• Shot and edited films for social media
What success looks like
• Producing 2 to 3 high quality, illustrated blog posts per month that position us as collaborative thought leaders
• Growing our LinkedIn presence within 12 months, and establishing our Bluesky presence
• Ensuring that our website is engaging, up to date and the main source of truth for Climate Policy Radar online
• Working with Chief of Staff to secure media coverage in relevant publications
• Creating support materials to grow our user base with both partners and end users (including policymakers, civil society, and the private sector), especially ahead of industry events (like COP or London Climate Action Week) and product launches
• Setting and achieving qualitative and quantitative benchmarks for content performance
Salary and Benefits:
• Salary between £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
• A deep commitment to employee wellbeing, including policies such as 4 day workweek (same pay, Fridays off), generous leave, and a wellbeing allowance
• A vibrant, collaborative, empathetic work culture that thrives on innovation and the impact of our work
• Our hybrid work model encourages collaboration while providing flexibility. For team members in London, we aim for two days a week in our County Hall office, which offers a dynamic environment and spectacular views of the Thames.
Interview process
Our interview process has a couple of stages, and we try to keep them as swift as possible. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation during the process of application and selection, please let us know.
• CV and 2 examples of work
• 30-minute conversation with hiring manager
• 7 minute presentation (with one week lead time) as part of a one hour interview with two members of the team
• 30-minute Final Fit interview with the CEO
