Job Description
The Regional Environmental Health and Safety Manager at American All Waste, LLC in Athens, TN, will oversee health and safety for four Tennessee locations. Responsibilities include ensuring DOT and OSHA compliance, conducting safety audits, developing training programs, managing incidents, and leading health and safety strategies. The role involves collaboration with leadership and managing transportation safety aspects. This position is not remote, requiring on-site presence across multiple facilities.
Job Overview:
This role will report to the Corporate EHS Director, you will be responsible for Health and Safety for the Four Tennessee locations (Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis, and Chattanooga).
This includes overseeing onsite safety audits, policy program development, maintenance, safety training, reporting, and incident/near-miss investigations. You will develop and propose appropriate strategies to optimize health and safety processes and programs. You will also prepare prevention training for managers to improve skills and ensure effective occupational health and safety management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility is to maintain DOT and OSHA compliance throughout all facilities.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
• Work closely with the CEO, VP, EHS Director, and Supervisors on job sites to ensure alignment of strategies
• Provide “value-added” solutions to the field in terms of driving the continuous
• improvement, standardization, and non-conformance documentation for any/all Federal and/or State regulatory requirements
• Injury Case management is required, following workers' compensation guidance
• Manage work-related incidents, near misses, and any potential medical treatment from Axiom TPA and workers' compensation claims and enter them on Vector. Create root cause/correct action analysis and action tracking with lessons learned
• Administer recurring reports to the leadership team for review of compliance with any/all
• Federal and State operating authorities
• Lead the development of the site's health and safety strategy, which includes quarterly statistics of leading and lagging indicators
• Serve as the site contact for internal and external communication, visits, and audits related to employee safety or OSHA/EPA/DOT matters
• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy for EHS violations
• Responsible for managing Hazard Communication Policy and overseeing Hazardous Substance Surveys at assigned sites.
• Serve as lead for emergency response-related activities.
• Organize and facilitate engaged employee safety committees, meetings, and documentation.
• Manage Training department
Transportation Responsibilities:
• Required to Manage and Maintain DOT FMCSA Operating authority and licenses
• Fleet registrations/toll tags, plates, and inspections. Manage Clearinghouse, PSP, Saferstat, MCS-150, HVUT, OOS, Permits, etc.
• Manage CMV files and maintain complete compliance with all fleet operations in Fleet-IO
• Monitor DVIR results with maintenance managers & drivers
• Review SAMSARA cameras for coachable moments
• Monitor and maintain driver qualification (DQ) files
• Manage & administrate the DOT drug/alcohol program (pre-employment, random, post-accident)
• Perform Defensive Driving and continuous improvement training
Plant Operation:
• Works with Operations on fleet safety awareness, education and incentive programs
• Collaborate with operational and functional leadership regarding behavioral safety
• and organizational policies and practices
• Perform Audits- using the frequency inspection matrix, the application of the various EHS points that are verified during quarterly inspections.
• Responsible for reviewing and maintaining site-specific procedures Oversees the daily workflow of the field operations Be present daily to observe activities and promote a safety culture.
• Maintain or Post required safety signage
• Will be responsible for onsite Chemist, Waste Profile and NMA approvals
• Conduct training, Heavy Equipment, fall protection, tools, ladder, new hire, etc.
• Train managers and employees on the different OHS procedures.
• Ensure that policies, Site Operating Procedures (SOP’s), training, and compliance documentation are well-maintained and easily accessible.
• Work with fleet & service managers to ensure PM compliance and maintenance of
• vehicles
• Travel to all sites in Tennessee
Minimum Requirements:
Education and/or Professional Designation
• Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree
• BCSP ASP/CSP preferred but not Required
Experience
• 10+ years’ experience in OSH related positions
• 4 years DOT compliance experience
• Relative experience in HR
• Experience with incident database, Fleetio, and Samsara platforms is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with related fleet operations highly preferred (vactor trucks, tank trucks, large off-road equipment, tools, and other industrial-style equipment)
• Preferred HazWoper experience, but not required
Language Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret regulations and other documents. Communicates well with all levels of management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and FMCSA policies
• IFTA, TN IRP HVUT and Emergency management
• Knowledge of HAZMAT regulations

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $91,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
