Job Description

HFM PPC Flexible Packaging LLC is seeking a Regional Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager for the East region, based in Rome, GA. The role involves directing and implementing EH&S loss prevention programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a safety-focused culture. Responsibilities include leading safety programs, conducting inspections, managing safety training, and participating in investigations. A degree in EHS Management and 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting are required.
Position Summary:

Directs, plans, establishes, and implements occupational EH&S loss prevention programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for team members and plant facilities. Ensures that PPC Flexible Packaging (PPC) complies with applicable federal and state EH&S laws, regulations, and standards.

Leads the strategic and tactical activities of all EH&S and loss prevention programs for the East Region including Rome, GA, Buffalo Grove, IL, Pewaukee and Hartland, WI plants. This position may need to travel to any location at any time.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Lead behavior-based safety program development and implementation
• Serve as regional environmental health and safety support to standardize and harmonize the execution of EHS programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and PPC Policies.
• Foster a strong, safety-focused culture to ensure risk controls are in place to reduce or eliminate the frequency and severity of future claims to reduce the company's total cost of risk.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910
• Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
• Performs and documents safety inspections.
• Prepares and files required reports - i.e., OSHA 300, 300A, Tier II, Form R, Air emissions.
• Working knowledge of principles, regulations and technologies required to manage universal waste, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste.
• Maintains safety equipment supply and availability.
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the general industry.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works independently.
• Lead small safety teams i.e., safety committees.
• Advanced knowledge of OSHA required written programs i.e., Hearing Conservation, lockout tagout, Powered Industrial Trucks
• Lead the Emergency Response Team
• Ensure initial and annual OSHA training requirements are met.
• Leads incident/accident investigations, including identification of root cause.
• Ensure that local managers, supervisors, and employees are trained to conduct investigations, develop, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Keeps track of the corrective action / preventive action (CAPA) for any safety action items resulting from investigations or audits.
• Participates in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's)

Across the enterprise:
• Serve as subject matter leader of the Center of Excellence (COE) for Behavior Based Safety (BBS)
• Communicate Environmental, Health and Safety best practices.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Four-year degree in EHS Management, EHS Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or similar
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Environmental, Health and Safety within a manufacturing facility
• Direct experience developing, implementing, and managing a Behavior Based Safety Program
• Experience with an Environmental, Health & Safety Management system such as VelocityEHS
• Experience leading safety committees
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training
• Experience with Hazardous Waste procedures, local and state regulations
• Experience with compliance reporting - Stormwater, emissions, RCRA
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or similar industry recognized certification preferred, but not required
