Job Description

Climate Ed is seeking a Regional Coordinator for the West Midlands to enhance carbon literacy education among children. The role involves working with volunteers, schools, and local authorities to implement and promote educational programs. Candidates should have experience in community networks, teaching, and volunteer management. The position is part-time (21 hours/week) and requires close proximity to Birmingham. Climate Ed values diversity and encourages applications from under-represented groups.
Climate change is the big challenge of this century and young people hold the key to solving
it. Climate Ed is an exciting young charity that provides high quality carbon literacy
education to children across the UK, and enable them, their families and communities to reduce
their carbon emissions.

Climate Ed started as a London-based charity but is now expanding to key regions across the UK.
We are looking for someone highly motivated with experience of working with volunteers and
schools and excellent networks across the West Midlands region, especially Birmingham and
surrounding conurbations, to establish the programme in the region. This role will work with
volunteers, schools, local authorities and others to ensure the successful roll-out of the
programme and measurement of results. The successful candidate will need to be within easy
access of Birmingham.

The role is for 21 hours per week but can be compressed or spread out during the week. This
role could grow as the programme matures in the West Midlands, up to 5 days per week depending
on the success of the programme and of fundraising locally.

If you are passionate about helping young people understand climate change, address their
eco-anxiety and become empowered to take action with their families and communities, we look
forward to your application. Climate Ed is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and
inclusion among our workforce. We welcome applications from people from all parts of the
community, particularly from under-represented groups.

Climate Ed’s classroom resources.
• Report progress of the roll-out to the Programme Manager, raising successes, challenges,
risks and issues and agreeing actions to resolve problems.
• Work with Fundraising and Development Manager to raise funds for ongoing programme delivery
in this region.
• Help to promote the programme and charity on the website, social media and other marketing
activity by providing programme-related content.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience
• Knowledge of the West Midlands region and experience within local community networks and

environment.
• Motivating and managing a team (colleagues, community, volunteers).
• Gathering and reporting on data.
• Knowledge of safeguarding.
• Experience organising programmes of work.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience
• Experience in marketing and promoting extra-curricular activities to schools.
• Project management experience, developing delivery plans, tracking and reporting on
progress.
• Knowledge of behaviour change as it relates to climate change and promoting sustainable
lifestyles.
• Experience mentoring, training and coaching.
