The Regional Climate Resilience Coordinator position is located within the Bureau of Indian Affairs, specifically in the Office of Trust Services, Division of Environmental and Cultural Resources, Branch of Tribal Climate Resilience. This role is crucial for addressing the unique climate challenges faced by tribal nations in Alaska. The Coordinator will be responsible for identifying program needs and challenges, providing recommendations, and assisting in policy compliance issues. The position requires staying updated on the Department of Interior (DOI), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and federal policies, interpreting their meanings, priorities, and intents. The Coordinator will communicate directly with the Branch of Tribal Climate Resilience to provide regular updates and assist in meeting program requirements. Additionally, the role involves participating in collaborative efforts and planning documents as directed, interfacing with tribal, federal, and state agencies to identify resources and services that promote Tribal Climate Resilience. The Coordinator will also serve as the Awarding Official Technical Representative on P.L. 93-638 Contracts and Compacts for Tribal awards stemming from the BIA Tribal Climate Resilience funding. This includes tracking project status, ensuring the collection of data, narrative, and financial reporting, and serving as a contract monitor. The position requires conducting or assisting in the performance of BIA Tribal Climate Resilience program reviews and proposal reviews, evaluating compliance with policies, objectives, and standards, and assessing the overall effectiveness of projects. The Coordinator will provide technical assistance in solving specific local, regional, or national problems related to climate resilience.
Responsibilities
• Identify program needs and challenges and present recommendations to influence policy compliance issues.

• Stay abreast of DOI, BIA, and federal policies, interpreting their meaning, priorities, and intent.

• Communicate directly with the Branch of Tribal Climate Resilience to provide regular updates and assist with program requirements.

• Participate in collaborative efforts and planning documents as directed.

• Interface with Tribal, Federal, and State agencies to identify resources and services to promote Tribal Climate Resilience.

• Liaise with departments/agencies to facilitate a team approach in bolstering Tribal Climate Resilience.

• Serve as the Awarding Official Technical Representative on P.L. 93-638 Contracts and Compacts for Tribal awards.

• Track project status and ensure collection of data, narrative, and financial reporting.

• Conduct or assist in the performance of BIA Tribal Climate Resilience program reviews and proposal reviews.

• Evaluate compliance with policies, objectives, and standards, and assess the overall effectiveness of projects.

Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship required.
,
• Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, chemistry, or directly related disciplines.
,
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 grade level in project management, planning, and budget formulation.

• Understanding of climate impacts to tribal nations.
,
• Experience in participating in multi-agency planning and coordination groups.
,
• For GS-12, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 grade level, including providing guidance and direction in policies and internal controls.
