Company Description

Ecosystem Restoration Artistry Systems is a womyn-led forestry management and biophilic art installation company. We assist land stewards in managing their property in both the government and private sector through wildlife species surveys, ecological monitoring and evaluation studies, conservation and international agreement initiatives, and artistic landscape design installations, with a specialization in environmental disaster mitigation for wildfires, landslides, floods, oil spills, and bioremediation.

We are currently focused on the UN's decade of Ecosystem Restoration and participating in restoring 1 billion hectares by 2030 to sequester greenhouse gases/CO2, respect planetary boundaries, produce equitable food access, and promote biodiversity from a degrowth and social ecology foundation.

Role Description

This is a PAID internship role for a Regenerative Forest Technician & Farm Hand at Ecosystem Restoration Artistry Systems with a monthly salary of $3000. The role will involve day-to-day tasks related to ecosystem restoration, forest management, and farm operations. This is an on-site role located in Portland, OR. This internship position has the potential to lead to an offer for full-time employment with the company.

Expect to work around 35-40 hours a week, be on-time, maintain a respectable work ethic, continuously learn about Ecosystem Restoration, and have opportunities to lead community engagement days. The ideal candidate will be able to follow directions as a team member and be able to self-direct independently.

Qualifications
• REQUIRED: Must have previous farm or landscape experience. The work is HARD, expect to lift 50+ lbs regularly, be good working in the rain, in the mud, tending plant babies, wrangling invasives, being gentle around little riparian friends, and be vicious with blackberries.
• REQUIRED: Kind-hearted, receptive, high-energy. We are working with many other species, so it is very important that when we are creating habitats and restoring ecosystems, we are bringing in respectful loving energy. Being a regenerative restoration technician is kinda like being a nurse for the earth; we have to be gentle, caring, quick, and efficient in our work.
• Knowledge of ecosystem restoration is good, but can also train on the job for the right candidate.
• Basic carpentry and construction skills.
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. We welcome and support neurodivergence in our teams with the agreement that we must communicate well and effectively in whichever way makes the most sense to honor and respect the collective work of healing the land and our relationships between species.
