Amazon is hiring a Regenerative Design Manager in Greater London to lead the development of sustainable architectural design standards for their EU Operations. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to implement regenerative design principles, manage cross-functional projects, and ensure alignment with Amazon's Climate Pledge goals. The manager will focus on environmental restoration, occupant well-being, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Regenerative Design Manager within the Global Realty Development (GSD) EU team, who is responsible for developing forward-looking, regenerative design standards for the EU Operations building portfolio. The successful candidate will leverage their own expertise and partner with internal strategic leaders in Building Design, Engineering and partner Businesses and external industry leaders to create and apply regenerative design principles that govern the performance criteria of Amazon's technologically advanced facilities.
The Sustainability Design Manager utilizes their program management experience and technical acumen to manage internal and external resources in the development of design and technology products. This includes responsibility for coordination of up to 30 technical, operational, and functional stakeholder groups representing internal operations, process design, engineering, critical security and safety to support holistic facility designs. This role will serve as a sustainability leader within the GSD team, ensuring that key milestones related to the integration of the sustainability strategic goals into the global design standards are well defined, resourced, and achievable.
A successful Sustainability Design Manager must be able to work independently with internal and external teams to successfully manage difficult, cross-functional projects. These projects involve the collection and analysis of data supporting teams' development of building designs to deliver high quality results. The Sustainability Design Manager will partner with stakeholders to secure subject matter expertise, resources, scope development, prioritization, set milestones, and drive delivery to meet deadlines and program goals. They must be proficient at transforming abstract and conceptual ideas into clear, consistent, and accurate documentation. They will keep the scope of effort under control to accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately. They will establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, managers, and peers, recognizing discordant views and taking part in constructive dialogue to resolve them.
Key job responsibilities
• \tIn this role, you will work with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical stakeholders to interpret, communicate, and drive full lifecycle real estate and construction decisions
• \tLead the development of regenerative design principles that prioritize environmental restoration, occupant health, and well-being.
• \tIncorporate biophilic design, natural materials, and ecosystem-based strategies into projects to create spaces that restore environmental health and enhance associate experience.
• \tMaintain an in-depth understanding of local, regional, and international regulations related to regenerative design, biodiversity and circularity.
• \tIntegrate principles of circularity into design strategies by prioritizing material reuse, waste reduction, and closed-loop systems in all phases of the building lifecycle.
• \tLead cross-functional initiatives in an extremely fast paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity
• \tWork closely with Design Project Managers (DPMs) to implement sustainable design across EU.
• \tBe able to solicit requirements from and explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders; this includes collecting business and systems requirements from stakeholders, defining scope, and ensuring the successful adoption of key insights into constructible industrial building standards
• \tBreak complex projects down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, ruthlessly prioritize, and deliver results to make best-in-class products that meet org-wide goals

Leveraging expertise in sustainable design and industry best practices, you will THINK BIG to tackle complex, long-term challenges. You'll manage datasets across various building types, supporting the Worldwide Operations fulfillment and logistics network. Your insights will guide multi-disciplinary technical teams with competing priorities, building confidence in design decisions. This role requires innovation and adaptability to shape future solutions without relying on extensive institutional support.

Within Global Realty, Global Sustainable Development (GSD) drives pioneering building design, engineering innovation, and cost strategy, aligning with the vision to "set the global standard for sustainable real estate solutions. GSD leads decarbonization (Scope 1, 2, and 3), carbon-free energy, and biodiversity initiatives. Partnering with supply chains, developers, and landlords, GSD advances sustainability, integrates AI tools, and ensures alignment with Amazon's Climate Pledge.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• \tBachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field.
• \t7+ years in real estate, sustainable design, or program management.
• \tProven track record of managing large-scale projects with cross-functional teams.
Experience with sustainability frameworks (e.g., WELL, LEED, BREEAM, or LBC) and industry best practices.
• \tAbility to navigate competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• \tUnderstanding of regulatory requirements with emerging trends in sustainability (e.g., biodiversity, and circular design).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• \tAdvanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant discipline such as sustainable design, biodiversity conservation, regenerative design, or circular economy is highly preferred.
• \tCertifications such as LEED AP, LBC accreditation, or other sustainability-focused credentials.
• \tAbility to perform detailed lifecycle assessments and ecological impact studies to support design and policy decisions.
• \tExperience with large commercial and/or industrial building design and project management in all phases, including programming, design, and construction phases
