Dundee City Council is hiring a part-time Recycling Centre Assistant for 16.25 hours per week at Baldovie or Riverside Household Waste Recycling Centres. Job Description
Based at Baldovie or Riverside Household Waste Recycling Centres you will work part time, 16.25 hours per week on a shift rota. Hours of work are 5:15pm to 8:30pm, 5 days per week between Monday to Sunday. The post is temporary for 6 months from 1st April 2025 until no later than 30th September 2025. You will have basic numeric and reading/writing skills.Responsibilities
You will ensure that the recycling centres are maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all times. You will provide assistance and direction to the general public and other site users and to ensure that materials are properly segregated into the appropriate categories and areas for re-use and recycling.The Individual
You will have experience of customer service provision, manual handling skills, lifting of goods, containers, etc, and knowledge of recycling requirements or environmental issues. An awareness of Health and Safety issues related to recycling centres is also essential, along with the ability to maintain a high level of site tidiness and to control site traffic. You will also have good communication skills, be willing to help and deal politely and courteously with members of the public. The ability to work irregular hours and weekends, and a willingness to undergo training are also essential.
