Job Description

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring a Recovery Technician in California to operate a straight truck for collecting used oil, filters, and plastics. The role requires professionalism, customer service skills, and compliance with safety regulations. The Recovery Technician will be responsible for operating a straight truck while collecting used oil, filters and plastics throughout the designated province. This individual will require a high level of professionalism and customer service, which will be used to consistently build positive customer relationships and to promote GFL’s wide range of service offerings.

What you'll do:
• Oversee cargo handling, secure loads, ensure compliance with regulations, and perform trip inspections for safety and roadworthiness.
• Maintain and verify load-related documentation, including manifests, driver logbooks, and bills of lading, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Operate trucks safely, maneuvering for loading/unloading, inspecting vehicles, reporting defects, and adhering to transportation laws.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and the public while ensuring timely and professional deliveries.
• Perform loading/unloading duties, clean up debris, provide feedback on issues, and train others when required.

What's required:
• High School diploma minimum.
• Certification from recognized Truck Driving School.
• Valid Commercial Driver's license.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.
• Overtime as required.
• Weekend work may be required, on call schedule in effect on weekly basis.
