About the position
Anaergia is seeking a dedicated and skilled Production Assistant Manager (Engineer) to support the safe and effective operation of the Renewable Natural Gas System at the Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility. This role is integral to the management of the facility, combining engineering principles with hands-on work in the field, supported by site maintenance and operational staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the plant operates efficiently and safely, adhering to all safety rules, codes, and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handheld gas monitoring devices. The Production Assistant Manager will oversee the start-up and shut down of the plant, manage power outage situations, and maintain a clean work area free of hazards. Monitoring operating equipment and adjusting controls as necessary to meet performance and production goals for methane capture rates and plant runtimes will be a key responsibility. The role also involves ensuring the safe movement of chemicals and plant machinery, maintaining plant uptime through effective SCADA operation, and predicting potential failures to allocate work orders promptly. In addition to operational responsibilities, the candidate will collect samples for analysis to determine operational efficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement. Investigating problems, recommending repairs, and mitigating process risks are essential functions of this position. The Production Assistant Manager will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, conducting daily inspections, and supporting maintenance activities. A thorough understanding of PID control systems and the ability to coordinate with vendors for maintenance requirements will be crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities

• Investigate problems and recommend or perform repairs and enhancements.

• Identify and mitigate process risks and manage chemical consumption.

• Provide relevant information to the plant operation manager for daily logs or reports.

• Use general plant operation skills with respect to pumps, blowers, and compressors.

• Promote a safety culture and maintain a safe work environment.

• Conduct daily area inspections and fill out checklists.
,
• Support maintenance activities and coordinate with vendors for maintenance requirements.
Requirements
• College Diploma in Engineering or Science related field preferred.

• 1-3 years' experience with SCADA, waste handling, and preparation.
,
• Experience in water processes, anaerobic digestion, and biogas generation.
,
• Wastewater or bio-energy plant experience, particularly in anaerobic digestion.
,
• Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
,
• Heavy industrial plant experience is beneficial.
,
• Moderate to advanced maintenance skills.
,
• Strong team player with a flexible and proactive attitude.
,
• Good communication skills and advanced computer skills.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with RNG upgrading or similar gas processing (PSA system).
