Dick's Sporting Goods is hiring a Retail Bike & Snow Technician in New York. The role involves assembling, maintaining, and repairing bike and snow sports equipment, conducting safety checks, and providing customer service. The Retail Bike & Snow Technician is responsible for building, maintenance, inspection, and the repair of all product purchased, rented, and serviced through the Public Lands service department for all Bike and Snow Sports. The ideal candidate for this role is skilled in bicycle/snow equipment mechanics and dedicated to completing assignments and projects to meet the high standards of quality for our Public Lands explorer. In addition to core responsibilities within the shop, the Technician is expected to be fully trained in sales and register functionality to help deliver the elevated experience explorers expect when visiting our Public Lands destination. The Technician will assemble, maintain, and repair action sports equipment (bike/snow) meeting the needs of the explorer and in accordance with company and vendor standards. Responsibilities include minor to advanced repairs on bikes, which encompasses repairing/replacing parts, fitting accessories, conducting routine safety checks, and cleaning and lubricating bicycles and components. For ski/snow equipment, the Technician will perform tasks such as mounting bindings, base services, sharpening edges, waxing, brushing, polishing, and detuning tips/tails. The role also involves diagnosing faults, damage, and wear to provide accurate estimates to customers, educating them on whether repairs are essential or recommended, and assembling new equipment while performing quality checks before handing it off to the explorer. The Technician must understand explorers' behavior, successfully assess needs, and recommend products/services that meet those specific needs. Supporting company standards of selling and customer service is crucial, which includes providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every customer, and maintaining solid product knowledge. The Technician will assist and recommend explorers with the purchase of Bike and Snow Accessories as needed, identify and inform management of ways to improve shop workflow, and preserve complete and accurate shop records while maintaining record-keeping systems. Other tasks may be assigned by management as necessary.
Responsibilities
• Assemble, maintain, and repair action sports equipment (bike/snow) according to company and vendor standards.

• Mount bindings, perform base services, sharpen edges, wax, brush, polish, and detune tips/tails for ski/snow equipment.

• Diagnose faults, damage, and wear to provide accurate estimates to customers and educate them on repairs.

• Assemble new equipment and perform quality checks before handing it off to the explorer.

• Understand explorers' behavior and assess needs to recommend appropriate products/services.

• Support company standards of selling and customer service by providing a friendly environment and maintaining product knowledge.

• Assist and recommend explorers with the purchase of Bike and Snow Accessories as needed.

• Identify and inform management of ways to improve shop workflow and productivity.

• Preserve complete and accurate shop records and maintain record-keeping systems.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
,
• Prior retail sales experience or customer-focused experience preferred.
,
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift items weighing 15 to 35 lbs occasionally (up to 25 times per hour).
,
• Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
,
• Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet using a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.
,
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods of time (up to 2 hours continuously).
