Job Description

KeyLogic Systems is offering a remote internship for undergraduate engineers or scientists in Energy and Climate Analysis for Summer 2024. Interns will work on geospatial data science projects related to life cycle assessment and the Justice40 Initiative. The role includes collaboration with researchers and a chance to present findings. Preferred candidates are sophomores or juniors in relevant fields, with experience in data analysis tools.
KeyLogic is seeking an undergraduate engineer or scientist for an internship for the academic summer of 2024 (June to August). Successful applicants will join our Energy Analysis team which performs energy and climate research at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Life Cycle Assessment- Application of process engineering principles, energy sector knowledge, and statistical methods to support systems-level environmental analysis of energy systems from cradle-to-grave. The internship will be focused on a geospatial data science project that's looking to granularize life cycle datasets for use in the Justice40 Initiative.

Interns will have the opportunity for close integration with an exceptional mix of federal and contractor researchers, and at the end of the summer to present the results of their projects to senior KeyLogic and NETL stakeholders.

The internships pay competitively with other regional engineering internships, there is a potential for continued, part-time work through the school year, and a strong history of conversion to full time positions following graduation.

REMOTE EMPLOYEES MUST BE BASED WITHIN THE U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Current sophomores or juniors enrolled in chemical, environmental, energy, petroleum, or mechanical engineering programs as well as data science, geology, economics, policy or other mission-related degree programs
• Classroom or project experience with tools like Excel or Python
• Classroom or project experience with geospatial concepts
• Interest in working with data and wants experience brainstorming, testing, (and potentially coding) methods for breaking down public datasets into meaningful analytics.
