Job Description

Carbon Clean is seeking an R&D Laboratory Engineer in Mumbai, India, to support research by developing chemical analysis methods and conducting experiments on CO2 capture technologies. Responsibilities include managing a pilot plant, documenting procedures, and collaborating with academic and industrial partners. Candidates should have a Master’s in a relevant field, experience in laboratory environments, and knowledge of chemical analysis techniques.
Supporting research activities by developing and performing chemical analysis methods in a laboratory environment. Collaborate with partners within academia and industry to deliver research objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
• To develop and document analytical methods as standard operating procedures
• To perform analytical methods in the characterisation of solvent samples
• To plan and carryout experiments in the development of CO2 capture solvent technologies
• To manage operation of a CO2 capture pilot plant and evaluate outputs
• To test and develop novel CO2 capture process technology
• To contribute towards the safe operation of laboratory and pilot plant facilities

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:
• A Master’s in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or a relevant subject. PhD is desirable
• Experience of working in an laboratory environment
• Thorough understanding of chemical analysis methods and techniques, including but not limited to: GC-FID, GC-TCD, GC-MS, LC-MS, TIC/TOC, acid/base titration, KF titration, ICP-OES, FTIR
• Posses a strong knowledge of mass transfer, chemical equilibria and thermodynamics
• Experience with pilot plant operation and process control is desirable
• Knowhow and experience in researching or developing solvent-based CO2 capture technology
• Display the ability to critically assess data and literature to provide insight to the R&D and technical teams when required
• An expert communicator with the ability to report technical information to a non-technical audience
• Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously to a high standard with minimal supervision
