Job Description

KOMAN Government Solutions, LLC is seeking a Project Scientist- Environmental Compliance to support environmental compliance projects in Alabama and surrounding Southeastern states. The role involves facility assessments, sampling, permit applications, and environmental training. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science and 2-5 years of experience. This is a hybrid position, requiring some in-person work.
KOMAN Government Solutions, LLC is searching for a career minded Environmental Scientist to join our team supporting our Southeastern clients. Candidates residing in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North/South Carolina, and Tennessee will be considered for this HYBRID role.The Project Scientist will be responsible for supporting the team on environmental compliance projects to include a variety of facility/site assessments, soil/surface water/groundwater sampling, environmental management plan developments, permit renewals/applications, and environmental training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Possess effective technical writing skills to include analytical reports, memorandums, e-mails and accurate descriptions of regulatory requirements.
• Support Clean Water Act, Air Quality, and RCRA Project Plan preparation including Work Plans, health and safety plans, Quality Control Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans, Environmental Protection Plans, Waste Management Plans.
• The ability to demonstrate a proficiency with the Microsoft suite of programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Publisher, Adobe and other software applications as needed.
• Create and complete necessary forms and checklists as directed by senior staff.
• Conduct field sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, waste streams) and data collection under the supervision of senior scientists.
• Compile and organize data gathered from fieldwork and laboratory analyses.
• Analyze environmental data utilizing specialized equipment and techniques as directed by senior staff.
• Prepare materials and equipment for field investigations and sampling events.
• Maintain field forms and logbooks for sampling events, chains of custody for samples, and other related documentation; support sampling events; create data tables / prepare reports.
• Occasionally and as directed by senior staff, the Project Scientist will be required to work independently in an often fast-paced environment.
• Support equipment, materials, laboratory and subcontractor procurements in conjunction in accordance with the direction of senior staff.
• Perform all work in such a manner as to support the efforts of KOMAN in obtaining favorable feedback/CPARS ratings from clients and project funding agencies.
• Maintain updated knowledge regarding applicable project area state and federal regulations and Department of Defense guidelines to include but not limited to CERCLA, EPCRA, CAA, CWA, SDWA, and RCRA.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or other related technical discipline.
• 2-5 years experience as an Environmental Scientist.
• Experience working with environmental permit compliance (Stormwater, Air Quality, Drinking Water Quality, Hazardous and non-Hazardous Solid Waste Management, Spill Prevention).
• Experience performing environmental compliance audits/inspections. Federal project experience is preferable but not required.
• Regulatory compliance experience ( RCRA, TSCA, NPDES, CAA, CWA, etc.).
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
