Doyon, Limited is hiring a Project Scientist / Protected Species Observer in Anchorage, AK. • FLSA Status** : Hourly
Job Summary

Project Scientist / Environmental Compliance on a variety of projects related to environmental compliance on marine construction, dredging, and oil and gas operations. Reports directly to Senior staff, but expected to operate independently.
Essential Duties

• Provide support and solutions for a wide variety of industry, agency, and corporate clients.
• Participate in and/or lead marine mammal monitoring and environmental compliance related projects.
• Work closely with clients, staff, and regulators to develop reasonable solutions.
• Ensure that projects are done in compliance with applicable regulations and client expectations.
• Effective and professional communication with supervisors, team members, regulators, and clients.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Incumbent must be self-directed and motivated, and will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and objectives with limited oversight.
• Must be safety conscious at all times.
• Must have working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, policies, and procedures and be proficient in working with environmental permits and regulations.
• Proficient in Windows-based computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong technical writing skills and organization.
Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Construction Management, or related field.
• Must have 4+ years of experience in the environmental and/or regulatory fields.
• Must have 10+ years of experience as a protected species/marine mammal observer in Alaska marine environments.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug-test.
