Job Description
HII Nuclear Inc. seeks a Project Manager (Environmental Remediation) in Los Alamos, NM. The role involves ensuring safety compliance, managing production schedules, coordinating interdepartmental activities, and leading projects in environmental services. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and relevant experience. Key responsibilities include advising management on material availability, scheduling resources, and mentoring junior staff. The position requires advanced project management skills and effective communication.
While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, ensures all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; maintains required safety, security and operational training; assures procedural and regulatory compliance; and makes safety, security and quality an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to):
• Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and directs material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of raw and approved finished goods materials timed to meet production requirements.
• Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, inventory levels, and potential production or material supply disruptions to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided on-time and at an optimal cost.
• Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.
• Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, and demand planning, etc.
• Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers, and requests for shipping orders.
• Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts and techniques in project management involving environmental services, hazardous waste management services, remediation services, and/or ecological services.
• Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
• Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.
• Ability to lead substantial proposal and marketing initiatives.
• Ability to develop and lead large sized projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods.
• Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
• Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
• Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors' degree in appropriate discipline; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; after a candidate has been chosen.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Light Work Category - Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. The employee exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
