Job Description
Teknion Limited is seeking a Project Manager for Environment & Sustainability in Toronto, ON. This role involves developing and managing environmental projects, leading teams, and implementing sustainability policies to reduce the environmental footprint. Candidates should have a relevant degree, 2-5 years of experience, and strong leadership skills. The position is full-time and focuses on promoting sustainable practices within the manufacturing group.
General Accountabilities:
This role is multidisciplinary, requiring knowledge, research and vision on environmental impact of Manufacturing, Process Design, Product Design and inspiring leadership capability. The incumbent is a key player in the development of Teknion’s Sustainability policies and responsible for developing and managing the individual environmental projects with the divisional and departmental teams within the Toronto Manufacturing Group. Our goal is to achieve a greener economy and fight climate change with the intent to improve the well-being of our employees and the community.
Specific Accountabilities:
• This position is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and monitoring the environmental plan and sustainable actions within the Toronto Manufacturing Group.
• Key responsibility beside project management is to motivate, educate and lead the individual project teams on the environmental journey.
• Responsible for developing and assisting environmental task champions in all divisions and departments.
• Coordinate, monitor, manage and further develop environmental reporting to support all teams and managing team members including certificates of authorization.
• Carry out projects aimed at reducing our environmental footprint.
• Responsible for project management, coordination and execution of special environmental projects.
• Accountable for implementation and monitoring of environmental compliance certification and related internal verification activities.
• This position is responsible for appropriate training programs for environmental awareness for the hourly and salaried workforce.
• Participate in divisional and group specific LEAN manufacturing activities providing input on environmentally relevant Cost Saving opportunities to the divisional teams.
• This position is accountable for reviewing product designs and making recommendations on product design related opportunities to reduce Teknion’s carbon footprint.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in science or other fields of study related to the environment
• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in the environment
• Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
• Being passionate about sustainable development and protecting our environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated leadership, team mobilization and decision-making skills
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
